What an Honour
Thanks again to Whitewash Magazine and Noel Butler from Nuru Gunyu for this amazing South Coast Photographic opportunity.
Noel Butler in an Aboriginal Elder from Ulladulla. He’s also a bloke that I’ve got to know over the years and learn to respect a lot. We first met at my Wedding where he performed a Welcome To Country Ceremony - such an honour.
When I was given the opportunity to photograph Noel by the lovely team at Whitewash Magazine I jumped at the opportunity. Noel conducted a Smoking Ceremony, and to say that the photographs were only a small part of the benefits of being part of the experience is an understatement. It was really powerful and moving.
When I captured the above photograph, standing less than two feet away from Noel and eyeballing him through the lens, shivers went down my spine. I felt that moment so distinctly and knew the photo had just made itself.
